The Project

This project for Lil Baby’s *My Turn* album explores a unique visual identity with almost surreal, psychedelic colors. The design uses neutral tones that are powerful yet unsettling, making the artwork both recognizable and impactful. The aesthetic is applied across album covers, vinyl, CD, concert tickets, and Spotify visuals, capturing the essence of Lil Baby’s music—a complex and intense journey represented through bold, abstract visuals that push the boundaries of typical album design.

Work Process

An insight into the creative process, from concept to final designs, capturing the bold energy of Lil Baby’s album.

I began by exploring the visual landscape of hip-hop and the ways color can evoke emotion. Through research, I identified a color palette that’s both neutral and disturbingly vibrant, to mirror Lil Baby’s intense and raw sound. The result is a psychedelic yet grounded aesthetic, a departure from traditional hip-hop visuals, making it memorable and reflective of his unique voice.
The concept revolves around creating an abstract, almost hallucinogenic effect with colors that are both intense and subdued. Using swirling patterns and neutral yet vibrant shades, I aimed to capture the complexity of Lil Baby’s music. The visuals evoke a sense of introspection and power, transforming the album’s aesthetic into a multidimensional experience.
In the development stage, I focused on refining the psychedelic elements to ensure they complemented rather than overwhelmed the design. Each asset, from mockups to final products, was crafted to embody Lil Baby’s bold and innovative approach. The end result is an album artwork collection that stands out with a surreal yet grounded presence, resonating with fans and creating a lasting visual impact.
